The Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater is an iconic landmark in Oceanside, California, standing proudly at the foot of the historic Oceanside Pier. In 2012, the amphitheater was renamed in honor of Junior Seau, a hometown hero and NFL legend who tragically passed away. Seau, an Oceanside native of Samoan descent, was deeply beloved by the community, especially its Samoan population. He often led children in exercise routines at the amphitheater, further cementing his connection to this special place. The renaming serves as a lasting tribute to his legacy and his positive impact on Oceanside. The Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater boasts permanent bench seating for approximately 1,500 people, with additional space for another 1,000 folding or temporary chairs, making it suitable for large-scale events. Over the years, it has played host to a wide array of performances, including concerts by renowned musical acts like The Black Keys and Creedence Clearwater Revisited. It also serves as the graduation venue for Oceanside High School, a testament to its importance in the community's life cycle. Beyond concerts and graduations, the amphitheater is a popular venue for cultural celebrations, religious services, and outdoor movie nights. Annual events such as Juneteenth and Cinco de Mayo are also held here. The amphitheater has even made its mark on the silver screen, appearing in the film "Bring It On" as a venue for a cheerleading competition.
