Public Transport
From Palm Desert, take the SunLine bus Route 14 towards the Palm Springs Transit Center. Get off at the stop near the Palm Springs Convention Center. From there, transfer to Route 1 towards Twentynine Palms. This will take you towards Twentynine Palms. Get off at the stop nearest to the entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. From the bus stop, it is about a 5-mile walk to Cottonwood Spring. Follow the signs towards the Lost Palms Oasis Trail.

Rent a bicycle from a local rental shop in Palm Desert. Start your ride heading north on Hwy 74. Follow the road as it winds through the desert landscape. After approximately 10 miles, take a right onto Cottonwood Road which leads to the entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. Continue riding until you reach the entrance of the park, and then follow the signs to Cottonwood Spring, located along the Lost Palms Oasis Trail.

If you are feeling adventurous and want to walk, you can start from the central area of Palm Desert, heading north on El Paseo, then take a left on Hwy 74. Continue walking towards the park entrance which is about 10 miles away. Once you reach the entrance, follow the trail markers towards Cottonwood Spring. Bring plenty of water and wear appropriate hiking gear for the desert terrain.
