    Getting There

    Public Transport

    The Central Library is easily accessible via public transportation. Take the Metro B Line (Red) or Metro D Line (Purple) to the 7th St/Metro Center Station. From there, walk three blocks north on Hope Street to reach the library. Alternatively, several bus lines stop near the Central Library, including the 10/48, 14/37, and 16. Check the MTA website for the most up-to-date routes and schedules. A single Metro fare is $1.75.

    Walking

    If you are already in Downtown Los Angeles, walking to the Central Library is a convenient option. The library is located on 5th Street, between Grand Avenue and Flower Street. From the U.S. Bank Tower or the Bunker Hill Steps, head east on 5th Street. The library will be on your right. From the 7th St/Metro Center Station, walk north on Hope Street. The library will be on your left. There is no cost for walking.

    Taxi/Ride-Share

    Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are readily available in Downtown Los Angeles. Simply request a ride to 630 W 5th St, Los Angeles, CA 90071. A short taxi or ride-share trip within downtown will likely cost between $8 and $15, depending on distance and demand.

    Parking

    If driving, parking is available in the 524 S. Flower Street garage beneath the Maguire Gardens. The library offers validated parking for library users. To receive validation, present your Los Angeles Public Library card at the Information Desk on the first floor. Validated parking rates vary: $1 for 1 hour, $5 for 2 hours, $9 for 3 hours, and $3.50 for every 10 minutes after 3 hours, up to a maximum of $35. There is a $14.50 Daily Early Bird rate for cars entering between 4:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and exiting by 3 p.m.. Cash payments can only be made at the P-1 level of the parking garage before returning to your car. Other parking garages are available in the vicinity, with rates ranging from $10 to $45.
