Getting There

  • Public Transport

    LACMA is accessible via multiple Metro bus lines. The Metro Local 20 and Rapid 720 buses on Wilshire Blvd, as well as Metro Local 217 and 218, and Rapid 780 buses on Fairfax Ave, all stop within a half block of the museum. From Wilshire/Western Station on the Metro Purple Line, transfer to the westbound Local 20 or Rapid 720. From La Cienega/Jefferson Station on the Metro Expo Line, transfer to the northbound Local 217. A single Metro trip costs $1.75 and includes two hours of free transfers.

  • Walking

    From the La Brea Tar Pits, walk east along Wilshire Boulevard for approximately 5 minutes to reach LACMA. From the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, walk west on Wilshire Boulevard for about 2 minutes.

  • Driving

    From the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10), take Fairfax Ave north 2 miles to Wilshire Blvd. From the Hollywood Freeway (US-101), take Highland Avenue 3.5 miles south to Wilshire Blvd, then turn right and proceed 1 mile west. Parking is available at the Pritzker Parking Garage on 6th St, just east of Fairfax Ave. The parking charge is $23, or $15 after 8 PM. Nearby parking options include the Petersen Museum, Museum Square, and Page Museum. Metered parking is available on 6th St and Wilshire Blvd.

  • Taxi/Ride-Share

    Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are readily available throughout Los Angeles. A taxi from Union Station to LACMA will cost approximately $35-$50. Note that taxi fares include a flag drop fee of $2.85, a per-mile charge of $3, and a charge of $0.30 per 37 seconds of waiting time. There is also a $4.00 surcharge for all trips originating at LAX.
