Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From downtown San Diego, the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) offers several bus routes to Balboa Park. Routes 7, 120, and Rapid 215 connect to various points within the park. From the City College Trolley Station, take the Route 7 or 215 bus heading north. A one-way fare is $2.50, and a Day Pass is available for $6. The PRONTO app offers easy mobile ticketing.

  • Walking

    From the Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego, Balboa Park is accessible by foot, though it's a significant walk (approximately 1.5 - 2 miles). Head north on 6th Avenue, which turns into Balboa Park. Continue over the Cabrillo Bridge, an iconic entrance to the park. Allow 30-45 minutes for a leisurely walk. There is no cost for walking.

  • Driving

    From Interstate 5, take the B Street/Pershing Drive exit and follow signs to Balboa Park. Alternatively, from the San Diego Airport, take Harbor Drive to Grape Street, then I-5 South to the 10th Avenue exit, following signs to the park. Parking in Balboa Park is free in various lots throughout the park. However, parking can be challenging during peak times. Consider using the Inspiration Point parking lot and taking the free Balboa Park tram to reach different attractions. Note: Paid parking may be implemented in the future.
