From Truckee, take Donner Pass Road (Old Highway 40) west. The bridge is approximately 10 minutes from downtown Truckee. Follow Donner Pass Road, passing Donner Lake. As you ascend towards Donner Summit, look for the well-marked parking area on the right-hand side of the road, just before the bridge. Parking is free. Be aware that parking can be limited during peak season. During winter, check road conditions as chains may be required.
