The Cedar House Pub, located within the Granlibakken Tahoe resort in Tahoe City, provides a unique dining experience steeped in history and surrounded by the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada. Granlibakken, a 74-acre resort, has roots dating back to 1922 when it was known as Ski Canyon, a popular ski and sledding hill. In 1949, Kjell “Rusty” Rustad, a Norwegian ski jumper, established the area as Granlibakken, meaning “a hillside sheltered by fir trees”. The Cedar House Pub itself exudes a rustic, old-school charm with its wood-paneled walls, vaulted ceilings, and a grand fireplace. The building that houses the pub was constructed in 1957 by the University of California, Berkeley. Today, the pub offers a gastro pub menu featuring a range of dishes made from scratch, with options that pay homage to Granlibakken's Norwegian heritage and European ski culture. Popular menu items include the Chicken Schnitzel and French Onion Soup. The pub also boasts an extensive wine list, handcrafted cocktails, and weekly dining specials. In the warmer months, guests can enjoy dining on the outdoor deck, taking in the sunset and starry skies. The Cedar House Pub is family-friendly, offering a kids' menu and a relaxed atmosphere. It's a place where you can linger over your meal, enjoying the cozy ambiance and friendly service.
