BART
To reach Union Square in San Francisco from Walnut Creek, start by heading to the Walnut Creek BART station located at 200 Ygnacio Valley Rd, Walnut Creek, CA 94596. Purchase a ticket to the Embarcadero station in San Francisco. Board the train heading towards San Francisco/Daly City. The ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Embarcadero station, take the exit towards Justin Herman Plaza. From there, you can either walk or take a Muni bus.
Muni
After exiting the Embarcadero station, head towards the Muni bus stop located nearby. You can take the Muni bus line 8 or 30 towards the city. Get off at the stop at Market St & 5th St. From there, walk two blocks north on 5th Street and you will arrive at Union Square.
Walking
If you prefer to walk from the Embarcadero station to Union Square, exit the station and walk towards Market Street. Head west on Market Street for about 0.5 miles, which should take around 10-15 minutes. Continue walking until you reach Union Square, which will be on your left at the intersection of Geary Street and Powell Street.
