The museum houses a diverse collection of Khmer relics and artifacts. Highlights include the “Thousand Buddha” pillar, sacred turtles of Srah Srang, and a collection of Buddha on Naga statues. The museum also features ancient jewelry, beads, and ceramics. Exhibitions include Buddha statues from Banteay Kdei Temple, artifacts from Koh Ta Meas and Prei Khmeng dating back 3,000 years, and ceramics from Kok Patri Temple dating from the 15th to 19th centuries. The museum's architecture blends traditional Khmer design with modern aesthetics. The sleek lines and contemporary layout provide a backdrop for the exhibits. The exterior features carvings reminiscent of Angkor, paying homage to Cambodia's artistic legacy. It was financed by AEON, APSARA (Cambodian cultural agency), and Japan's Sophia University. The museum was built to preserve artifacts from excavations. A renovation to repair the museum's roof was carried out in 2016-2017.
