Discover more about Pantai Kep

Pantai Kep, also known as Kep Beach, is a charming destination on Cambodia's southern coast, offering a peaceful retreat from bustling city life. This crescent-shaped beach features imported white sand and shallow waters, making it ideal for families and those seeking relaxation. Established in 1908, Kep was once a glamorous seaside resort, known as the 'Riviera of Asia', attracting French colonialists and wealthy Cambodians. The town's heyday was in the 1950s and 60s, but it fell into decline during the Khmer Rouge regime, with many of its modernist villas destroyed. Today, Kep is experiencing a revival, with renewed interest in its natural beauty and tranquil ambiance. While the beach itself may not boast the turquoise waters of other Cambodian islands, its calm atmosphere and clean sands provide a pleasant environment for swimming and sunbathing. Visitors can rent deck chairs and enjoy fresh seafood from nearby vendors. Kep is also a great base for exploring nearby attractions such as Kep National Park, Rabbit Island (Koh Tonsay), and Kampot's pepper plantations. The name 'Kep' comes from the Khmer word for 'saddle,' originating from a legend about a king whose horse saddle fell in the area. Whether you're looking to relax on the beach, explore the surrounding countryside, or savor fresh seafood, Pantai Kep offers a delightful and authentic Cambodian experience.
