Car/Van
From Siem Reap, hire a car or van for a 1.5 to 2-hour journey to Phnom Kulen National Park. The entrance to the park requires a separate ticket, costing $20 per person, payable in USD or Cambodian Riel. Parking fees within the park are separate: 5,000 Riels for trucks, 3,000 Riels for cars, and 1,500 Riels for motorcycles. Be aware that the road up the mountain operates a one-way system, typically allowing uphill traffic before 11 am. Factor in additional time for the 20-minute drive from the ticket office to the mountain top.
Tuk-tuk & Hiking
For a more adventurous approach, take a tuk-tuk from Siem Reap to the base of Phnom Kulen. Negotiate the fare beforehand. From there, if you are fit, hike up the mountain to the various points of interest. Be aware that the hike is steep and can be challenging, requiring appropriate footwear and plenty of water. The $20 entrance fee is still required and can be purchased at the ticket office at the base.
