Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Siem Reap. Head southwest on National Road 6 (NR6) for about 5 kilometers until you reach the Angkor Archaeological Park entrance. You will need to pay an entrance fee, which varies based on the duration of your visit (1-day pass: $37, 3-day pass: $62, and 7-day pass: $72). After entering the park, continue straight for approximately 3 kilometers until you see the sign for Angkor Thom. Follow the signs to reach the iconic South Gate of Angkor Thom, which is your destination.

• Tuk-tuk

  Tuk-tuks are a popular and convenient way to travel around Siem Reap. To get to Angkor Thom, you can negotiate a fare with a tuk-tuk driver in the city center. Expect to pay around $15-$20 for a round trip to Angkor Thom, which typically includes time for stops at various attractions within the Angkor complex. Provide the driver with the destination details, and they will take you through the Angkor Archaeological Park, where you may need to pay the entrance fee as mentioned earlier.

• Public Bus

  While there are no direct public bus routes to Angkor Thom, you can take a bus to the Angkor Archaeological Park. Start at the Siem Reap bus station and look for a bus heading to the park. The fare is usually around $5-$10. Once you arrive at the park entrance, you can either rent a bicycle or hire a tuk-tuk to reach Angkor Thom. Note that you will still need to pay the park entrance fee upon arrival.

• Bicycle Rental

  For the more adventurous traveler, consider renting a bicycle to reach Angkor Thom. Many hotels and rental shops in Siem Reap offer bicycles for about $2-$5 per day. From the city center, head southwest on NR6 towards the Angkor Archaeological Park. It’s about a 7-kilometer ride. After paying the entrance fee at the park, follow the signs for Angkor Thom. Cycling is a great way to experience the scenery and avoid the crowds.
