Car
From Takeo, start your journey by heading north on National Road 2 (NR2) towards Phnom Penh. After approximately 25 kilometers, take the exit towards National Road 1 (NR1), heading east. Continue on NR1 for about 15 kilometers until you reach the turn-off for the Tonlé Sap Biosphere Reserve. Follow the signs to the reserve, which is located in Anphlong Ta O. The total driving distance is around 42 kilometers, and the journey should take approximately 1 hour, depending on traffic.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach Tonlé Sap Biosphere Reserve by public transportation, first take a local bus from Takeo to Phnom Penh, which departs from the central bus station in Takeo. The fare is typically around $2-3. Upon arriving at the central bus station in Phnom Penh, transfer to a bus heading towards the town nearest to the biosphere reserve. Make sure to inform the driver or conductor about your destination. Once you reach the nearest town, you may need to hire a tuk-tuk or a motorcycle taxi to cover the remaining distance to the reserve, which is about 10 kilometers away. The total travel time can vary, but expect at least 2-3 hours.
