The Mankon Museum is more than just a repository of artifacts; it's a vibrant center that brings the history and traditions of the Mankon people to life. Established in 2006 near the Mankon Palace, the museum's collection originated from the palace itself, including items once reserved for the Fon's inner circle.The museum features both permanent and temporary exhibitions. The permanent display, entitled “Arts, Heritage and Culture from the Mankon Kingdom”, presents around 180 objects divided into six thematic sections. These sections offer insight into the life and culture of the past through old clothes, weapons, furniture, musical instruments, women's accessories, and works of art, such as traditional masks and statues. Each artifact tells a story, providing insights into the daily lives, spiritual beliefs, and artistic expressions of the Mankon people.The museum also hosts cultural events, workshops, and temporary exhibitions, creating an engaging space for both locals and tourists. Knowledgeable staff members are available to provide guided tours, offering deeper insights into the significance of each exhibit.
