The Limbe Botanic Garden, founded in 1892 during the German colonial era, stands as a testament to Cameroon's diverse flora and the importance of botanical research and conservation. Originally intended as a trial garden for economically valuable tropical species like rubber, coffee, and cocoa, it has evolved into a leading recreational and tourist attraction in the South-West Region. Spanning approximately 48 hectares, the garden boasts a collection of around 1,500 taxa, including both herbaceous and woody plants. Visitors can explore various themed trails, such as the medicinal plants trail, which highlights the traditional uses of plants by local communities, and the coastal trail, offering picturesque views of the Atlantic Ocean.
