From the Halifax waterfront, head uphill on any street towards Brunswick Street. Look for the iconic Old Town Clock at the base of Citadel Hill and the Citadel's signal flags flying above. Climb the stairs in front of the clock to reach the entrance. Alternatively, a gentler, more accessible climb follows the sidewalk from the Sackville Street entrance. No costs are associated with walking.

Many routes stop within a short walking distance of the Citadel, such as those stopping by the Grand Parade on Barrington Street.
