Getting There

  • Public Transit

    From Niagara Falls, take the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) bus #40 (the 'Niagara Falls to Buffalo route'). Board the bus at any of the designated bus stops in Niagara Falls, such as near the Niagara Falls State Park or the Seneca Niagara Resort. Stay on the bus for about 30 minutes until you reach the stop at the intersection of Grand Island Blvd and Stony Point Rd. From there, transfer to bus #20 (the 'Grand Island route'). This bus will take you directly to the stop near Buckhorn Island State Park. Alight at the E River Rd stop, and the park entrance will be a short walk from there.

    If you prefer to bike, start from the Niagara Falls State Park and head towards the Niagara River Greenway. Follow the bike paths that run along the river towards Grand Island. The ride is approximately 8 miles. Once on Grand Island, continue on the bike paths until you reach E River Rd. Buckhorn Island State Park will be located on your right. Make sure to follow the signs for safe cycling routes.

    Walking to Buckhorn Island State Park from Niagara Falls is not practical due to the distance (over 6 miles) and lack of pedestrian-friendly routes.
