The Niagara Military Museum, officially opened on November 3, 2012, stands as a tribute to Canada's military history, focusing on the World War I, World War II, and Korean War eras. Housed in a 98-year-old building that once belonged to Canada's Department of National Defense, the museum showcases artifacts from the Navy, Army, and Air Force, including uniforms, badges, helmets, gas masks, and firearms. The museum aims to increase awareness of the efforts of soldiers and the contributions of men and women on the home front. Visitors can explore exhibits featuring newspaper clippings, photographs, and a variety of military artifacts. A WWII Flight Simulator, known as the Link Trainer, is being rebuilt as a functional display. The museum also features a traveling exhibit, Black Military History of Niagara, honoring Black servicemen and women.The museum's collection may appear eclectic, but it provides a thought-provoking glimpse into military heritage. Admission is free, making it accessible to all visitors. The museum is dedicated to preserving the narratives of those who served, ensuring their stories are remembered for future generations.
