Completed in two phases, with the North Tower in 1976 and the South Tower in 1979, the complex has been the corporate headquarters of the Royal Bank of Canada since its opening. The plaza consists of two towers, the South Tower soaring to 180 meters (591 ft) and the North Tower reaching 112 meters (367 ft).Designed by WZMH Architects, the buildings stand out with their unique gold-bronze glass exteriors, using approximately 2,500 ounces of gold in the coloring process. The towers have a triangular footprint and are positioned on opposite corners of the site. Over 14,000 windows form angular bays set into brushed aluminum frames.The Royal Bank Plaza is more than just office space; it includes a shopping concourse that forms part of the PATH network, providing access to Union Station, the Toronto Dominion Centre, Brookfield Place, and the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
