This neogothic cathedral, built between 1907 and 1917, stands as a testament to the city's history and the enduring spirit of its community.The cathedral's history is marked by resilience. The first church on the site, constructed in 1872, was destroyed by fire in 1880. A subsequent wooden structure also fell victim to fire in 1906. The current cathedral, designed by architect Emilio Doyère, was built using concrete due to a wood shortage. Its symbolic inauguration occurred in 1914, with final completion in 1917. The cathedral has undergone renovations, especially after the 1995 earthquake.The cathedral's architecture is characterized by its neogothic style, featuring soaring spires and a detailed facade. Inside, visitors can admire the beautiful stained-glass windows and the high altar adorned with religious iconography.
