Car
If you're driving from Coyhaique, take Route 7 (Carretera Austral) heading north. After approximately 220 km, you will reach the town of Puerto Río Tranquilo. From there, continue for about 30 km on the same road until you reach the entrance for the San Rafael Lagoon National Park. There is a toll booth where you will need to pay an entrance fee (around CLP 3,000). Once inside the park, follow the signs towards the San Rafael Lake area, which is about 15 km further along the road.

From Coyhaique, take a bus to Puerto Río Tranquilo, which departs several times a day. The journey takes about 4-5 hours and costs approximately CLP 6,000-8,000. Upon arrival in Puerto Río Tranquilo, you can arrange for a local tour operator to take you to San Rafael Lake. Most tours include transportation to the lake via boat, and prices generally range from CLP 40,000 to CLP 80,000 depending on the type of tour and included services.
