To reach Mount Darwin from Punta Arenas, take Route 9 north towards Puerto Natales. After about 250 km, you will reach the town of Puerto Natales. Continue on Route 9 for another 50 km until you reach the town of Timaukel. From Timaukel, you will need to take a local road towards the east which leads to the base of Mount Darwin. It's important to note that some sections may be unpaved, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. The drive from Punta Arenas to Mount Darwin takes approximately 5-6 hours. Fuel costs and potential tolls along Route 9 should be accounted for.

From Punta Arenas, take a bus to Puerto Natales. Buses operate frequently, and the journey takes about 3 hours. Once in Puerto Natales, you will need to find a local bus service to Timaukel. This bus ride can take an additional 1-2 hours depending on the schedule. After reaching Timaukel, you may need to arrange a taxi or local transportation to get to the base of Mount Darwin.
