Getting There

• Car

  If you're starting from San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina, head north on Route 40. Continue for about 60 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 237. Turn right onto Route 237 and drive for approximately 25 kilometers until you reach the town of El Bolsón. From El Bolsón, continue on Route 40 for another 35 kilometers. Look for signs directing you to Cerro Bayo. The road to the ski resort will lead you directly to the parking area at the base of the mountain.

• Public Transportation

  From San Carlos de Bariloche, take a bus to El Bolsón. The bus ride typically takes around 2 hours and costs approximately 300-500 Argentine Pesos. Once in El Bolsón, you can catch a local bus or taxi to Cerro Bayo. The local bus may have limited schedules, so check ahead for times. Expect to pay around 150-200 Argentine Pesos for the local bus or a taxi that may cost around 1000 Argentine Pesos depending on the distance and time of day.

• Car from Chile

  If you're traveling from Puerto Varas, Chile, take Route 225 to the border at Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park. After crossing into Argentina, continue on Route 40 towards El Bolsón. Follow the same directions as above to reach Cerro Bayo. Be aware that you may need to pay a fee for crossing the border, and ensure you have the necessary documentation.

• Hiking

  For the adventurous, consider hiking from El Bolsón to Cerro Bayo. This trek is challenging and requires good physical condition. The hike takes approximately 5-6 hours and covers around 15 kilometers. Make sure to bring enough food, water, and proper hiking gear. It's advisable to check local weather conditions and trail status before setting out.
