Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car in Tierra del Fuego, start from the main city, Puerto Williams or Punta Arenas. Depending on your starting point, head towards Route 9 (Carretera Austral). Follow the signs to cross the Strait of Magellan via ferry to reach mainland Chile. Once you are on the mainland, continue on Route 9 until you reach the junction with Route 255. Take Route 255 towards the south until you reach the town of Porvenir. From Porvenir, you can continue south to visit various attractions in Tierra del Fuego, but to reach Chile Travel, which is located in Santiago, you will need to drive back north to Punta Arenas and take a flight to Santiago. Ensure to check for ferry schedules and book in advance to avoid delays. The ferry costs approximately CLP 20,000 per vehicle.

  • Public Transportation

    For public transportation, if you're starting from Puerto Williams, take a ferry to Punta Arenas. The ferry ride takes about 3 hours and costs around CLP 15,000. Once you arrive in Punta Arenas, you can find buses that travel to Santiago. The bus journey will take approximately 36 hours, so be prepared for a long trip. Buses such as Turbus and Pullman Bus operate this route. The ticket prices range from CLP 30,000 to CLP 50,000 depending on the service class.
