Car
If you are driving, start from the main square in Salento. Head south on Calle Real towards Vía al Valle del Cocora. Continue on this road for approximately 11 kilometers. You will see signs for Cocora Valley and Sendero río Cárdenas. Park in one of the designated areas near the entrance to the trail. There may be a small parking fee, typically around 5,000 COP.
Public Transportation (Jeep)
From the main square in Salento, look for the Jeep (Willis) stand that offers rides to Cocora Valley. The fare is usually about 3,000 to 4,000 COP per person. The journey takes around 30 minutes, and the Jeeps leave when they are full. Once you arrive at the Cocora Valley entrance, follow the signs to Sendero río Cárdenas, which is a short walk from the drop-off point.
Walking
After arriving in Cocora Valley by car or Jeep, if you are parked at the main entrance, you will need to walk to the trailhead of Sendero río Cárdenas. Follow the path that leads into the valley, keeping the tall wax palm trees in sight. The trail will be well-marked, and you should begin to see signs indicating the direction to Sendero río Cárdenas within a few minutes. The walk is scenic and should take about 10-15 minutes.
