Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the center of Salento. Head southeast on Calle 6 towards Carrera 5, and take a left onto Carrera 5. Continue on this road for about 1.5 km until you reach the intersection with Calle 1. Turn right onto Calle 1. After approximately 400 meters, you will see the sign for Alto de la Cruz viewpoint. There is parking available nearby, but it can be limited during peak tourist times. Make sure to arrive early to secure a spot.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, start at the main square (Plaza de Bolívar) in Salento. Look for the 'jeep' or ' Willy's' (4x4 vehicles) heading towards Alto de la Cruz. The fare is usually around COP 3,000 to COP 5,000 per person. The ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Once you arrive at the drop-off point, you may have to walk a short distance (around 500 meters) to reach the viewpoint, following the signs along the path.
Walking
For those feeling adventurous, you can hike to Alto de la Cruz viewpoint directly from Salento. The hike starts at Calle 1, just a few blocks from the main square. The trail is well-marked and takes about 30-40 minutes to reach the viewpoint. It's a steep climb, so wear comfortable shoes and carry water. Enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way!
