Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving, start from the central square of Guatapé, located near the lake. Head southeast on Calle 30 towards the main road (Carrera 23). Merge onto the main road and follow the signs towards Medellín. After about 45 minutes, you will arrive in Medellín. As you approach the city, follow the signs for La Candelaria. Once in La Candelaria, look for Calle 50 and turn left. The Basilica of Our Lady of Candelaria will be located on your right at C. 50 #49 - 112.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach the Basilica using public transportation, first head to the Guatapé bus terminal and take a bus to Medellín. The buses to Medellín run frequently, and the journey takes about 2 hours. Once you arrive at the Medellín Terminal de Transportes, take the Metro Line A (the blue line) towards La Estrella. Get off at the San Antonio station and transfer to Line B (the gold line) towards Niquía. Then get off at the Parque Berrío station. From there, it's a short walk to the Basilica. Head northeast on Calle 44 towards Carrera 52, then turn right onto Carrera 52 and continue until you reach C. 50. Turn left and the Basilica will be on your right.
