From the center of Guatapé, head southwest on Calle 30 towards the main road. Turn right onto the main road (Carrera 23) and continue for approximately 10 km until you reach the junction for San Francisco. Follow the signs for San Francisco, which will take you onto the Vía San Francisco road. Continue on this road for about 15 km until you see signs for Río Melcocho, Puente Amarillo. There may be minor unpaved roads leading to the area, so be cautious and ensure your vehicle is suitable for such terrain. There is no entry fee to access the river.

From Guatapé, go to the main bus terminal and look for a bus heading to San Francisco. The bus ride takes about 30-45 minutes and costs approximately 5,000 COP. Once you arrive in San Francisco, you may need to take a taxi or a moto-taxi to reach the specific location of Río Melcocho, Puente Amarillo, as public transport may not directly reach the river. The taxi fare should be around 10,000 COP, depending on your negotiation and distance.
