Discover more about Pueblito Paisa

Pueblito Paisa, inaugurated in 1978, stands as a tribute to the traditional Paisa culture, showcasing the rural heritage of the Antioquia region within the urban landscape of Medellín. Architect Sierra Uribe spearheaded this project, envisioning a cultural haven where locals and tourists could immerse themselves in the charm of a typical Paisa village. The village is located on Nutibara Hill, which the city acquired in 1927 to preserve it as a recreational space. The village has a central square surrounded by buildings that represent essential parts of a Paisa town, including a church, school, barber shop, and mayor's office, all filled with authentic antiques from the early 20th century. Some materials used in the village's construction were sourced from the old town of El Peñol, which was flooded to create a reservoir. Visitors can explore the cobblestone streets, enjoy traditional Antioquian cuisine, shop for souvenirs, and visit the Museo de Ciudad, which showcases the history of Medellín. The open-air Carlos Vieco Ortiz theater hosts music and cultural events. The site is adorned with Christmas lights in December and during the Feria de las Flores in August. While at Pueblito Paisa, visitors can explore the sculpture garden on Nutibara Hill, created in 1983 in collaboration with the Medellin Museum of Modern Art. The most famous sculpture depicts Chief Nutibara and a warrior with a puma.
