Discover more about Pueblito Paisa

Pueblito Paisa, a beloved cultural symbol of Medellín, is a replica of a typical Antioquian village from the turn of the 20th century. Perched atop Nutibara Hill, 80 meters above the city, this charming attraction provides a unique blend of history, culture, and stunning panoramic views. Inaugurated in 1978 as part of Medellín's 350th-anniversary celebration, Pueblito Paisa was designed to pay tribute to the traditional Paisa culture and showcase the region's rural heritage. Architect Sierra Uribe spearheaded the project, aiming to create a haven where locals and tourists could immerse themselves in the quaintness of a traditional village. Some materials used in the construction were salvaged from the old town of El Peñol, which was flooded to create a reservoir. The village features a central square with a stone fountain, surrounded by a church, mayor's office, school, barber shop, and other structures filled with antiques from the early 20th century. Visitors can explore the Casa Museo, a small museum showcasing traditional Paisa living, and the Museo de Ciudad, which displays the history of Medellín. The Carlos Vieco Ortiz Open Air Theater hosts cultural and musical events. Pueblito Paisa is open daily, and admission is free. Visitors can enjoy traditional Colombian cuisine, shop for local crafts, and take photos with the "I Heart Medellín" sign. While the village is generally safe, it's recommended to avoid walking alone on Nutibara Hill at night.
