Kid's Museum: A Playful Learning Space in Bogotá

The Kid's Museum (Museo de los Niños) in Bogotá is designed as an interactive learning environment where children can explore and discover through hands-on exhibits. Located in the Barrios Unidos area, the museum aims to make learning fun and engaging for kids of all ages. Once housed in an 8,000 m² building with over 23 modules, the museum offered a variety of exhibits teaching children about science, technology, culture, and arts. One of the museum's highlights was a real Boeing 720 aircraft where children could learn about aeronautics. The museum also featured a miniature city to teach children about traffic signs and safe street behavior. In 2018, the space was repurposed into a park for children. While the original museum aimed to bridge the digital divide by offering computer skills training to children from low-income families, it also celebrated art. For its 15th anniversary, young Colombian artists created murals on the museum walls, which became a landmark for art students in Bogotá. Today, the Kid's Museum continues to offer a space for children to play and explore with attractions such as bouncing houses, bicycle rides and races.
