Discover more about Ghost Town Museum

The Ghost Town Museum in Colorado Springs offers an immersive journey into Colorado's Wild West past. Opened in 1954, the museum preserves the structures and artifacts from former mining towns that were abandoned as the gold rush faded. These towns became known as 'ghost towns'. The museum is housed in a historic stone building that once served as a Colorado Midland Railway train workshop, built in 1899. Inside, visitors can walk along wooden sidewalks and explore a recreated town featuring original buildings and thousands of artifacts. See a jail, saloon, general store, and more, filled with items from the era. Animated figures and displays bring the past to life. Visitors can participate in hands-on activities such as churning butter, playing antique arcade games, and testing their aim at the shooting gallery. From May to September, visitors can pan for real gold, just like the prospectors of the Pikes Peak region. The gift shop offers a variety of souvenirs, including old-fashioned candies, toys, and western-themed merchandise.
