Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Gunnison, CO. Head south on S Main St, which turns into CO-135. Continue on CO-135 for approximately 3 miles. Look for the Hartman Rocks Recreation Area sign on your left. Turn left onto Hartman Rocks Road and follow it for about 1 mile. You will arrive at the Hartman Rocks parking area, which is the main access point to the trails.

  • Public Transportation

    If you are using public transportation, you will need to take the Gunnison Valley RTA bus service. Board the bus at the Gunnison bus station located at 100 N Main St. Check the latest schedule as the bus service may have limited hours. Request to get off at the closest stop to Hartman Rocks. From the bus stop, it is approximately a 1.5-mile walk to the entrance of Hartman Rocks. Follow Hartman Rocks Road until you reach the entrance.

  • Biking

    For those who prefer biking, you can rent a bike in Gunnison at local shops such as The Dog House Sports. Once you have your bike, follow the same route as the car directions: head south on S Main St (CO-135) and then onto Hartman Rocks Road. The ride is about 4 miles from the center of Gunnison and is a scenic route. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow local biking regulations.
