From downtown Gunnison, head east on E Tomichi Ave toward N Main St. Continue for about 0.5 miles until the intersection with N Main St. Turn left onto N Main St and follow it for approximately 1 mile. You will pass the Gunnison River on your right. Keep an eye out for the Hartman Rocks Recreation Area signs. As you approach the outskirts of town, look for a paved road labeled 'Hartman Rocks Road' on your left. Turn left onto Hartman Rocks Road and continue for about 2 miles until you reach the entrance to Hartman Rocks Recreation Area.
Walking
Starting from the Gunnison Riverwalk Trailhead located at 100 S. Main St, walk east along the river on the Riverwalk Trail for about 1 mile. After reaching the intersection with E Tomichi Ave, turn left and walk up to N Main St. Cross N Main St and continue walking north for approximately 1 mile. When you reach Hartman Rocks Road, turn left and follow the road for about 2 miles until you arrive at the entrance of Hartman Rocks Recreation Area.

Check local bus schedules for the Gunnison Valley RTA (Regional Transportation Authority). Catch the bus that has a stop at the closest point to Hartman Rocks. The bus will likely take you along N Main St. After getting off, walk along Hartman Rocks Road for about 2 miles to reach the entrance of Hartman Rocks Recreation Area.
