Getting There

Bicycle
From downtown La Junta, head east on 1st Street. Continue straight until you reach Colorado Avenue, then turn left. Follow Colorado Avenue until you reach 5th Street, where you will turn right. Continue on 5th Street until it merges with CO-194. Follow CO-194 east for about 6 miles, and you will arrive at Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site on your right.

Start at the La Junta Public Library located at 1001 Colorado Ave. Walk east on Colorado Avenue until you reach 5th Street, then turn right. Continue walking on 5th Street, which will lead you to CO-194. From there, you can walk along the side of the road heading east for approximately 6 miles until you reach Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site, which will be on your right side.

While there is no direct public bus route to Bent's Old Fort, you can take the local bus from La Junta to the nearest bus stop along CO-194. Board the bus at the La Junta Transit Center located at 200 S. 10th Street. Inform the driver you would like to get off at the nearest point to Bent's Old Fort.
