Discover more about Monarch Mountain

Monarch Mountain, a beloved Colorado ski area since 1939, sits atop Monarch Pass at an elevation of 10,790 feet, with a summit of 11,952 feet. Known for its incredible natural snowfall, averaging around 350 inches annually, Monarch provides a reliable and exhilarating powder experience. The mountain boasts 800 acres of skiable terrain, catering to all skill levels with 64 runs: 23% green, 28% blue, 36% black, and 13% double black. Monarch's history is as rich as its powder. Originally built by the Works Project Administration and later sold for just $100, the area has evolved through several ownerships. Today, it retains a community-focused vibe, offering a refreshing contrast to the larger, more commercialized resorts. Recent expansions, including the No Name Basin project, will add 377 acres of skiable terrain, further enhancing the Monarch experience with trails suited for intermediate to advanced skiers. Beyond the slopes, Monarch offers a variety of amenities, including a ski school, children's center, and dining options. The compact base area makes navigation easy, ensuring a stress-free experience for families and groups. For those seeking stunning views without skis, the Monarch Crest Scenic Tramway, located a short distance away at the summit of Monarch Pass, provides a breathtaking panorama of the surrounding Sawatch Range.
