    To reach the Mount Massive Wilderness from Leadville, start by heading south on US Highway 24. Turn west onto Colorado 300. After 0.7 miles, turn left onto County Road 11, then right onto Halfmoon Creek Road (still County Road 11). Continue 5.3 miles on Halfmoon Creek Road to the Mount Massive parking lot. Parking is free. Note that Halfmoon Creek Road is a dirt road and can be rough. Depending on the specific trailhead you intend to use, you may need a 4WD vehicle with good clearance to proceed beyond the main Mount Massive parking lot.
