Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from Breckenridge, head southwest on CO-9 S for about 20 miles until you reach the junction with US-285 S. Merge onto US-285 S and continue for approximately 40 miles. Take the exit onto US-50 W towards Montrose. After about 50 miles, take the exit for CO-145 N toward Telluride. Continue on CO-145 N for about 25 miles, and then merge onto CO-160 W. Follow CO-160 W for about 20 miles, then turn onto CO-491 N. Continue north until you reach the entrance to Mesa Verde National Park. Once inside the park, follow the signs to Cliff Palace Loop. There is an entrance fee of $20 per vehicle.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Cliff Palace via public transportation, first take the Bustang bus service from Denver to Durango. Once in Durango, you should take a local shuttle or taxi to Mesa Verde National Park. Be aware that public transport options are limited, so check schedules in advance. After entering the park, you will need to utilize the park's shuttle service to reach Cliff Palace. Make sure to check the shuttle schedule as it operates seasonally.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, cycling to Cliff Palace is an option if you're staying nearby. From the nearest town (such as Mancos), take CO-184 W until you reach the entrance of Mesa Verde National Park. Once inside, follow Cliff Palace Loop, which is approximately 5 miles long. Make sure to be prepared for elevation changes and carry sufficient water and snacks, as it can be challenging.
