Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of Greenwich, head east on Greenwich Avenue towards East Elm Street. Continue straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the Greenwich Metro-North Train Station. Here, you will board a train heading to New York City (the New Haven Line). Ensure you have a Metro-North ticket before boarding. The train ride to Grand Central Terminal will take approximately 50 minutes. Once you arrive at Grand Central, follow the signs to the subway. Take the 4, 5, 6, or S train downtown to 14th Street Union Square. From there, transfer to the L train heading towards Canarsie-Rockaway Parkway. Get off at 1st Avenue station, and you will find yourself in the East Village area. Walk around to explore the vibrant culture and attractions of the East Village.

• Public Transport

  Begin at the Greenwich Metro-North Train Station. Purchase a ticket for the New Haven Line to New York City. Board the train and travel to Grand Central Terminal. Once you arrive, exit the station and walk to the subway station within Grand Central. Take the 4 or 5 train downtown to 14th Street Union Square. Here, transfer to the L train and head towards Canarsie-Rockaway Parkway. Disembark at 1st Avenue. The East Village is a short walk from the station, where you can enjoy the local shops and eateries.

• Biking

  If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from a local shop in Greenwich. Start at the Greenwich Town Hall and head towards the East Putnam Avenue (Route 1). Follow Route 1 north until you reach the Metro-North Train Station. From there, you can bike along the scenic route that leads to the train station, where you can board a train to New York City. Once arriving at Grand Central, you can continue your biking adventure by cycling through the East Village. Just be mindful of bike lanes and traffic regulations.
