From central New Britain, head to the New Britain Transportation Center located at 30 West Main Street. Take the CT Transit bus number 128 towards Farmington. The bus will take you along Farmington Avenue. Stay on the bus for approximately 25 minutes, and get off at the stop closest to the intersection with Mountain Road. From there, it is a short walk of about 0.5 miles to Hill-Stead Museum. Follow Mountain Road north until you reach the museum located at 35 Mountain Road.

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from a local rental shop in New Britain. Start from the center of New Britain and ride along Farmington Ave (Route 6) heading northwest. Continue on this road for about 4 miles until you reach the intersection with Mountain Road. Turn left onto Mountain Road and ride for another mile until you arrive at Hill-Stead Museum located at 35 Mountain Road.

For those who enjoy walking, you can start from the New Britain Library located at 20 High Street. Walk west on High Street until you reach Main Street. When you get to the intersection with Mountain Road, turn right and walk along Mountain Road for another mile. Hill-Stead Museum will be on your left at 35 Mountain Road.
