Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the center of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. Take Route 36 heading west toward Cahuita. Continue on Route 36 for about 20 kilometers until you reach the intersection near the town of Cahuita. Turn left onto Route 32 and follow it towards Limón. After approximately 15 kilometers, you will reach the town of BriBri. Keep an eye out for signs indicating Canaan Los Angeles. As you approach the area, you will see signs for the Retreat Center. The center is located off the main road, so be prepared for a short detour down a local road that leads to the center. Parking is available on-site.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Puerto Viejo de Talamanca to Limón. The bus terminal is located in the center of Puerto Viejo, and buses run frequently throughout the day. The fare is around 1,500 CRC. After reaching Limón, you will need to transfer to a bus heading towards Rivas. Confirm with the driver that the bus will stop in Canaan Los Angeles. The bus fare for this leg is approximately 1,000 CRC. Once you arrive in Canaan Los Angeles, the Retreat Center is within walking distance, but you may also find local taxi services to take you directly to the center.

• Taxi Service

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from any location within the Caribbean Coast. Taxis are available in towns like Puerto Viejo and Cahuita. Simply provide the driver with the address 'Canaan Los Angeles, Provincia de, San José, Rivas,' and they will take you directly to the Retreat Center. Expect to pay around 30,000 CRC for a taxi from Puerto Viejo to the Retreat Center, depending on traffic and time of day.
