Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving to Mirador el tanque de agua, start from the main entrance of Rincon de la Vieja National Park. Head southwest on the main road inside the park. Follow the signs leading to the various attractions. After approximately 15 minutes of driving, look for a dirt road branching off to the left. This is the access road to Mirador el tanque de agua. Drive along this road for about 10 minutes, and you will reach the parking area. Please note that a parking fee may be required at the entrance of the park.

• Public Transportation

  For those relying on public transportation, your best option is to take a bus from Liberia to Rincon de la Vieja National Park. Once you arrive at the park's entrance, you will need to hire a local taxi or a shuttle service to reach Mirador el tanque de agua. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand; it typically costs around $10 to $15 USD for a round trip. The taxi will take you to the parking area near the mirador, where you can enjoy the views.

• Hiking

  If you are already inside Rincon de la Vieja National Park and prefer to hike, follow the signposted paths towards the mirador. The trail is well-marked and takes about 30 to 45 minutes to reach, depending on your pace. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water. The hike is moderately challenging but offers beautiful scenery along the way.
