If you're driving, start from the main entrance of Rincon de la Vieja National Park. Head south on Route 1 (Interamericana) and then turn onto the road leading to the park entrance. Once inside, follow the signs to the Oropendola Waterfall trailhead. Park your car at the designated parking area, and ensure to pay any entrance fees at the park entrance, which is typically around $15 per person. From the parking lot, the trail to the waterfall is well-marked and takes approximately 30-45 minutes of hiking.

Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take a bus from Liberia to Rincon de la Vieja. Once you arrive at the park entrance, you can either walk to the trailhead for the Oropendola Waterfall (approximately 1-2 hours depending on your pace) or hire a local taxi to take you directly to the parking area. Be sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time, as it may vary. Once you reach the parking area, hike the marked trail to reach the waterfall.

For those already within Rincon de la Vieja National Park, head towards the Oropendola Waterfall trailhead from the main visitor center. The trail is well-maintained and takes you through lush rainforest. The hike will take about 30-45 minutes, so wear comfortable shoes, and bring water and snacks. Follow the signs closely, and keep an eye out for wildlife along the way.
