    Take a local bus to the city center. From the main bus station, walk towards the city center, head to Ulica Kandlerova and continue until you reach the main square, Trg Republike. The Pula Citadel, also known as Kaštel, is a star-shaped fortress built by the Venetians in the 17th century. Constructed on the site of a prehistoric hill fort and Roman acropolis, it has been a strategic defensive point throughout history.
