Car

From the center of Varaždin, take the D2 road heading towards Lepoglava. Follow the signs for Trakošćan Castle. Once you arrive in Trakošćan, turn onto Trakošćan Street and follow it until you see the castle entrance. There is a parking area available near the castle, and parking may incur a small fee, so be sure to have some kuna on hand.

Public Transportation

For those using public transportation, begin by taking a bus from the town of Varaždin to Lepoglava. Buses run regularly from the Varaždin Bus Station, and the journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Lepoglava, you will need to take a taxi or a local bus towards Trakošćan. If a taxi is your choice, the ride to the castle will take approximately 10 minutes. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as local transport can vary.

Walking

If you're already in the vicinity of Trakošćan, and feel up for a hike, you can walk from nearby villages such as Trakošćan or even Lepoglava.
