Discover more about Boka Pistol

Boka Pistol is the star attraction of Shete Boka National Park, a protected area encompassing 10 kilometers of Curaçao's northern coastline. The park's name, meaning 'seven inlets' in Papiamentu, hints at the dramatic coves and wave-battered shores that define its landscape. Boka Pistol stands out with its unique blowhole formation. Here, the relentless pounding of the Caribbean Sea has carved a narrow opening into the limestone cliffs, leading to an underground cave. As waves surge into this confined space, the pressure builds until the water erupts with tremendous force, shooting skyward in a spectacular display. The accompanying boom resembles a pistol shot, adding to the thrill. Visitors can witness this natural phenomenon from a viewing platform, feeling the spray and hearing the roar of the ocean's power. For an alternative perspective, the spectacle can also be viewed from behind. The surrounding area offers more than just the blowhole. The rugged coastline stretches as far as the eye can see, showcasing the untamed beauty of Curaçao's north shore. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including grazing goats and various bird species. The Boka Pistol trail also leads to Boka Kalki, a narrow bay with a small beach where sea turtles sometimes nest.
