Shete Boka National Park, established in 1994, is a captivating protected area showcasing the untamed beauty of Curaçao's northern coast. The park's name, meaning 'seven inlets' in the local Papiamentu language, hints at the numerous coves and bays that define its rugged shoreline. In reality, the park features more than seven inlets, offering a diverse landscape of crashing waves, limestone cliffs, and hidden beaches.Three species of sea turtles, including the Hawksbill, Loggerhead, and Green sea turtles, nest within the park's protected coves from May to December. Researchers actively monitor the beaches during nesting season to study and protect these vulnerable creatures.Key attractions include Boka Tabla, where visitors can descend into an underground cave to witness waves crashing with tremendous force. Boka Pistol is renowned for its powerful blowhole, shooting water high into the air with a sound like a cannon. Boka Wandomi features a natural limestone bridge carved by the relentless ocean waves. While Boka Kalki offers a quieter, sandy beach where sea turtles sometimes lay their eggs.The park offers two main hiking trails, the Boka Pistol Trail and the Boka Wandomi Trail, each taking about an hour to complete. These trails provide access to viewpoints and showcase the park's unique flora and fauna, including iguanas, lizards, and various bird species.
