The Edro III shipwreck is a captivating sight on the Cyprus coast near Peyia, Paphos. On December 8, 2011, en route from Limassol to Rhodes, the Sierra Leone-flagged cargo ship was carrying plasterboard when a fierce storm caused it to run aground. All nine crew members were rescued, but the ship remained stuck. Over 80 meters in length and weighing over 2,300 tonnes, the Edro III now rests at an 11-12 degree angle, a monument to maritime mishap. While salvage attempts were considered, the difficulty and cost led the Peyia Municipality to leave the wreck, after ensuring it posed no environmental risk. The shipwreck is easily accessible and has become a favorite spot for photographers, especially during sunset. The surrounding area offers scenic coastal walks, sea caves, and the nearby Oniro By The Sea café, providing picturesque views of the wreck. Though boarding the wreck is dangerous and illegal, its haunting beauty continues to draw visitors.
