Cavo Greco National Park: A Coastal Gem

Cavo Greco National Park, a 385-hectare protected area established in 1993, is a captivating blend of natural beauty and geological wonder. Situated between Ayia Napa and Protaras, the park boasts a rugged coastline shaped by millennia of wind and sea erosion, resulting in dramatic cliffs, sea caves, and hidden coves. The park is a biodiversity hotspot, home to over 400 plant species, including 14 endemic varieties, as well as diverse wildlife such as foxes, rabbits, hedgehogs, and over 80 species of birds. Visitors can explore numerous hiking trails, ranging from leisurely strolls to challenging treks, offering panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea. Popular trails include the Aphrodite Trail and the Adonis Trail, which leads to the ruins of an ancient temple dedicated to the goddess Aphrodite. Iconic features of the park include the sea caves, carved into the cliffs by wave action, and the Blue Lagoon, a picturesque bay with vibrant blue waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Other notable landmarks include the Chapel of Agioi Anargyroi, a small white chapel perched on a cliff's edge, and the Cyclops Cave, linked to mythological tales.
