Dub Král, or King Oak, is a notable tree standing proudly near Grygov, within the Olomouc district of the Czech Republic. Situated on the periphery of the Království (Kingdom) Nature Reserve, it's easily accessible near the railway line. This memorable tree is one of the most impressive in the Olomouc region, even featured in a Czech TV program called 'Memory of Trees'.The history of the Království forest dates back to 1267 when King Přemysl Otakar II gifted land to the city of Olomouc. King Wenceslaus III further expanded the gift in 1306. Legend says that King Wenceslaus III had a dream while hunting in the forest and decreed that the tree under which he slept should never be cut down. While the original tree eventually died, a new one was planted in its place, continuing the legacy.The oak itself is estimated to be around 400 years old, standing over 30 meters tall with a trunk circumference of 560 centimeters. The surrounding Království Nature Reserve is a floodplain forest with diverse lowland tree communities typical of the Morava River. Visitors can explore the area and appreciate the rich flora and fauna.
